About The Founder

Amya Bhalla is a multi-disciplinary artist; their work includes zines, maps, illustrations, graphic design, independent publications, podcasts, and, of course, handmade and CAD-designed jewellery.

Ai Bo Kaate is a phrase Amya heard their dad yell ferociously from the terraces of old Delhi homes, and now wants to do absolutely anything with even a fraction of that kite-flying passion.

So, Amya started Ai Bo Kaate upon returning from the U.S., where they earned a Graduate Gemologist Degree and a Jewellery Design and Technology (CAD) Degree from the Gemological Institute of America in New York City. Amya’s background in anthropology and environmental studies has shaped their jewellery-making practices to include only using recycled metals, natural stones, small batch creation, and prioritising storytelling and personal connection.
